The heatwave is not only difficult for people. In the rows, the vines are also feeling the strain. With high temperatures and a lack of water, some leaves are turning yellow or drying out, a sign that the plant is trying to limit evaporation and protect the clusters.
At this stage, observation plot by plot remains essential. The foliage acts as a natural shield against the sun, but we still need to keep the right balance between protecting the grapes, allowing air to circulate and managing the vine’s vigour.
We are now hoping for a little cooler weather, and above all for rain. Steady rain, without excess, would help the vines recover and carry the season forward more calmly.
